Universal Basic Income (UBI) is a transformative economic policy that proposes providing all citizens with a regular, unconditional sum of money, regardless of employment status or income level.
Universal Basic Income (UBI) is a concept rooted in the idea of economic security and social equity. It suggests that every individual should receive a fixed, periodic payment from the government without any conditions attached. This income is meant to cover basic living expenses, ensuring that no one falls below a minimum standard of living. The idea has gained traction in recent years due to rising concerns about automation, job displacement, and widening income inequality.
One of the primary arguments in favor of UBI is its potential to reduce poverty and provide a safety net for all citizens. By guaranteeing a baseline income, individuals can pursue education, caregiving, entrepreneurship, or part-time work without the fear of financial ruin. It also simplifies welfare systems by replacing complex and often stigmatizing benefit programs with a universal approach.
Critics, however, argue that UBI could discourage work and strain public finances. They question its feasibility and worry about inflationary effects or reduced motivation to contribute productively to society. Yet, pilot programs in countries like Finland and Canada have shown promising results, including improved mental health, increased job satisfaction, and greater financial stability.
In a rapidly evolving economy, UBI offers a bold reimagining of social welfare. It challenges traditional notions of work and income, aiming to empower individuals and foster a more inclusive society.
While implementation requires careful planning and robust funding strategies, the potential benefits of UBI make it a compelling policy worth serious consideration.

This is a process of self-discovery. To fully benefit from this exploration, please address them in writing. You will simply not get the full value from it if you just breeze through and give mental answers. Do you give more than you receive or the reverse? Would others agree?
Could you ask a close relative for a business loan? For rent/grocery money?
Could you subsidize a non-related friend? How would you feel if that friend bought something you deemed frivolous?
Do you judge others by how you perceive they deal with their Money? Do you feel guilty about your prosperity? Are your siblings prosperous?
What part does money play in your spiritual life?
Do you “live” your Money values?
Conclusion
There may be other questions that would be useful to you. Others may occur to you as you progress in your life’s journey. The point is to know your personal money issues and their ramifications for your life, work, and personal mission.
This will be a “work-in-process” with answers both complex and incomplete. Don’t worry.
Just incorporate fine-tuning into your life’s process.

Job growth is slowing, but still bigger than expected
US employers added 139,000 jobs last month, government data released yesterday shows—that’s less than the down-wardly revised 147,000 new jobs that were added in April, but more than economists had predicted. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate held steady.
Overall, the highly anticipated jobs report reflects employers growing more cautious in the face of the economic uncertainty brought on by the trade war, but so far, there doesn’t seem to be a steep drop off in the labor market. That could give the Fed reason to stay in wait-and-see mode on interest rates, though President Trump still used the occasion to urge Jerome Powell to cut rates “a full point” on Truth Social.

Like market research analysts, financial analysts, personal financial advisors, and other jobs in personal finance that require manipulating significant amounts of numerical data can be affected by Artificial Intelligence, Mark Muro, a researcher at The Brookings Institute, said recently.
“AI can identify trends in the market, highlight what investments in a portfolio are doing better and worse, communicate all that, and then use various other forms of data by, say, a financial company to forecast a better investment mix.”
These analysts make a lot of money, he said, but parts of their jobs are auto-matable.

The U.S. is expected to have added tens of thousands of jobs in June, continuing to defy high interest rates and stubborn inflation, But any signs of slower job and wage growth last month could signal the labor market may be cooling down.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg project that 225,000 jobs were added to the economy in June while the unemployment rate is expected to have slipped to 3.6% – down from 3.7% the previous month. And a projected 4.2% average hourly wage bump over the previous June would be the smallest yearly uptick since 2021.

Despite admitting the company had “strong growth” across Wizards of the Coast, Digital Gaming, Hasbro Pulse, and its licensing business, Hasbro has announced that it will be laying off 15 percent of its workforce in an effort to cut down on costs and “return business to a competitive, industry-leading position.” Up to 1,000 workers will be affected by these layoffs, which have apparently been caused by Hasbro’s Consumer Products business under performing over the holiday period.

This flood of Big tech and other layoffs has again upended the dynamic between employers and employees, workers and executives say, leading to prolonged job searches and widespread fear and anxiety among many in the industry. “It is an employer’s market after years of employees having the benefit of working from home [and] more jobs with higher pay and perks,” said an anonymous unemployed worker after being let go by an educational-tech company last November. “Employers are reasserting their dominance — For example: Disney Google Meta Apple Snap [are] asking workers to be on site three or four days a week.”
Moreover, last week, Alphabet Inc.’s Google was the latest tech giant to add to the uncertainty, announcing the elimination of 12,000 jobs just two days after Microsoft Corp. announced it was cutting 10,000 positions. The two join a long list of companies that have announced layoffs in recent months, including Salesforce Inc. Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc., Amazon.com Inc. Cisco Systems Inc. Intel Corp. HP Inc. Coinbase Global Inc. Spotify Technology Inc. and Snap Inc.
And so, is the above and more, leading to the next employment cycle? Perhaps to become known as the “Great Re-Commitment“?
Silvergate Capital Corporation reported a sharp drop in fourth-quarter crypto-related deposits on Thursday as investors spooked by the collapse of FTX pulled out more than $8 billion in deposits, sending shares down more than 42%. The crypto-focused bank also said it would cut its workforce by 40%, or about 200 employees, as it tries to rein in costs amid a deepening industry downturn. Its stock was last trading at $12.55.

U.S. stocks were lower as the markets continued to speculate as to how long the Fed will keep its monetary policy tight. Yesterday’s minutes from the Fed’s December meeting suggested that the Central Bank will remain aggressive. Jobs data pointed to a tight labor market, as the ADP Employment Change Report came in higher than expected, and jobless claims were lower than anticipated, which seemed to be solidifying expectations of further rate hikes. Services sector data also came out, with output being revised higher but continuing to depict contraction.
Treasury yields were mixed, and the U.S. dollar rallied following the data, while crude oil prices rose, and gold dropped.
Equity news offered varying results, as Exxon Mobil offered mixed Q4 guidance, T-Mobile US’ phone customers topped forecasts, Constellation Brands missed earnings estimates and lowered guidance, and Conagra Brands topped quarterly estimates.
Finally, Asian stocks finished mostly higher, and European stocks were mixed following a three-day winning streak, as the markets digested the Fed’s minutes and amid optimism regarding China’s reopening.

Markets: Stocks just finished a period of high volatility and biotech companies in particular are feeling unsteady. The sector is off to its worst start to a year since 2016 and Moderna is the worst performer in the S&P 500.
Social Media: More than 95,000 people lost a collective $770 million due to fraud on social media last year, a new FTC report found. That represents 25% of all reported losses to fraud in 2021 and a breathtaking 18x increase over social media scam losses in 2017. Driving the surge was bogus cryptocurrencies. In fact, investment-related scams were the most prevalent type of fraud on social media, accounting for 37% of all losses. Romance scams (24%) were No. 2, and online shopping scams (14%) won the bronze medal.
Employment: The January employment rate dropped, but with Omicron forcing so many Americans to call out sick last month, the data may be specious. Economists polled by Dow Jones are estimating the economy added 200,000 jobs last month.
