  1. He is outta there!

    No, not Eric, yet!

But, Dr. Robert Petzel, the undersecretary for health at the VA, did just resign in the wake of allegations that employees in the VA health-care system kept unauthorized patient appointment wait lists that made wait times seem shorter than they actually were.

  2. Hold your Horses,

This “resignation” was really a pre-planned retirement announced three weeks ago with a replacement waiting in the wings.

Last month, word broke that the VA hospital in Phoenix kept a secret waiting list that allegedly led to dozens of preventable deaths. Since then five other facilities have come under fire, leading to calls for VA Secretary Eric Shinseki to step down.

She also accused others of altering records after the scandal broke to try to hide the deaths of at least seven veterans awaiting care.

  11. More on Shinseki’s Resignation

The VA system represents government bureaucracy and inefficiency at its finest. At the Edward Hines VA Hospital, in the president’s home town of Chicago, only one-fourth of their 4,230 employees are actually providing primary medical care.

What are the other 75 percent of employees doing? Shuffling papers, creating secret wait lists, or holding meetings?
