  1. Recent Change in Credit Scoring
[What hurts your credit score – Not medical bills]

I read in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance (November 2014 issue, page 70) new information about a new change in the FICO credit-score calculations. It states

“Medical bills in collection will no longer affect the calculation” of an individual’s credit score. “Consumers whose only negative is an unpaid medical debt in collection are not a credit risk.”

It is interesting that with all the possibilities for the public to renege on a debt, FICO chooses a medical bill acceptable to ignore.
