On My APHA Peer-Reviewer Invitation

Dear Dr. David,

APHA’s 2019 Annual Meeting and Expo will bring together more than 12,000 public health professionals to attend 1,000+ scientific sessions on the latest public health research, policy and topics.

We need your help

Become an abstract reviewer! Educational sessions are the highlight of each Annual Meeting, and people often ask how to get involved in session development. Reviewers take a firsthand look at abstracts, evaluate them and help develop scientific content to be presented at the meeting.

Abstract Reviewer Benefits:

  1. Gain experience to add to your CV.
  2. Share and increase your knowledge on public health topics.
  3. Connect with other reviewers, public health professionals and APHA staff.
  4. Contribute to enriching sessions.

Deadline to Become a Reviewer: Jan. 31

Reviewing Begins: March 4

One Response

  1. Dear Dr. David,

Urge your members of Congress to end the shutdown now for the sake of the public’s health

As we approach the fifth week of the partial government shutdown, the consequences for the public’s health are increasingly troubling. The Food and Drug Administration has suspended routine food inspections except at “high-risk facilities;” the EnvironmentalProtection Agency has suspended inspections of chemical factories, power plants and water treatment operations; and the lack of funding at the Indian Health Service is threatening critical health services for American Indian communities. The shutdown is alsothreatening the health and economic stability of the 800,000 federal workers who have been furloughed or are working without pay and numerous federal contractors who work to protect our health and safety.

A prolonged shutdown will continue to put the health and safety of our nation at risk. Last week, APHA joined more than 280 organizations calling on Congress and the president to immediately reopen the government to minimize any further impact on the public’s health and well-being. Now, we need you to urge your members of Congress to take action to quickly end this shutdown for the sake of the public’s health!

    Sincerely,
    Don Hoppert
    APHA Government Relations Director
