Contrasting Views of Human Motivation in Management

Management practices are shaped by the assumptions leaders make about the people they supervise. Among the most influential frameworks for understanding these assumptions are Theory X and Theory Y, two contrasting models that describe how managers view employee motivation, capability, and responsibility. In contrast, Theory Y offers a more optimistic view of human motivation.
