According to PM News #4325, a podiatrist in San Luis Obispo, CA, recently received his first EMR incentive check. 

Congratulations and kudos were had by all in the practice. Then, reality set in as the doctor wondered out loud!

    According to the above source [PM News #4325], the IRS views all payments received under the health IT incentive programs as taxable income.

    You may be able to write off a portion of the hardware or software purchase costs associated with your EHR, but there are limitations, so consult your FA or tax adviser. They may be aware of additional tax incentives unique to your state or situation.
