PA Podiatrist Concerned About Financial Health of Consumers
Despite storm clouds threatening the economic horizon, an investment strategist offered a “partly sunny” forecast recently to the Bethlehem Rotary Club. But he cautioned: “Carry an umbrella.”
Mark Luschini, chief investment strategist for Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, pitched his outlook on a day the Dow Jones industrials fell 389 points.
One small-business owner attending the luncheon was concerned about the financial shape of consumers, especially young people, many of whom are burdened by credit card debt and student loans. Dr. Edwin Hart said he worries those factors will weigh down personal spending and hurt businesses as a result.
“It’s great that corporate America is doing well, but the consumer has to be financially healthy,” said Hart, who owns a podiatry practice on Easton Avenue.
