R.I.P: Stephen Hawking [Age-76]

On Stephen Hawking

[By staff reporters]

The acclaimed and inspirational British physicist has sadly died at the age of 76.

His legacy

Hawking discovered that the Big Bang started from a singularity, and that black holes aren’t totally black but radiate energy, among plenty of other things.

His illness

He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 1963, aged 21. Doctors told him at the time that he would live for just 2-3 years.

His words: “Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Be curious, and however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do.”
