  1. HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGES SELECT FACEBOOK TO STORE PATIENT MEDICAL AND CLAIMS HISTORY IN MEMBER PROFILES

A CONSORTIUM OF Health Information Exchanges from around the country have elected to store their patient medical and claims data directly into member Facebook profiles.

Consortium spokesperson Christopher Wylie explains that “we were searching for a common platform with universal access and availability, when our working group was meeting while watching a recent newscast mentioning Facebook throughout, and it dawned on us that our answer had been sitting there literally in front of our faces and screens all this time.”

Wylie elaborated that “given the ease in which the member data can be accessed, and Facebook’s ability to store a treasure trove of data on each member, we find it the perfect interoperable solution for our stakeholders to deposit and extract data on each patient with ease.”
