In memory of those who died

In memory of those who died.
We weep and walk away.
Tears run into swollen streams.
No trace of us remains.
Even those who grieve are gone, and those that grieve who grieve, and those whose lives are ravaged by afrantic urge to be.
And those who wander silently among the empty rooms – immortality is theirs, though they must vanish, too.
We bear astonished witness to the passage of the soul.
No bridge exists that can connect our passion to the whole.

Assessment
Tragedy is defined as a form of drama based on human suffering that invokes in its audience an accompanying catharsis or pleasure in the viewing.
But, we shall not succumb to it; we shall not give up; we will revisit Boston and run a marathon again. And, as free Americans, we will live, love and … thrive!

Physicians’ Views of the Boston Marathon Bombings
As of this morning, three people have been killed and 154 injured, 17 of them critically.
The Boston Globe has several views from the medical front lines: The first Boston Marathon attendees who arrived at Massachusetts General Hospital were among the worst injured, with damage to their legs severe enough in some to require amputation, surgeon Dr. Peter J. Fagenholz said outside the hospital late Monday evening.

Using HIPAA for gun control is foolish.
“HHS ponders HIPAA change for gun purchase background checks” by Ryan McDermott was posted on FierceGovernment.com over the weekend.

“In an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking, HHS says it might alter the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act so that states can report to the FBI for gun background check purposes information such as the names of the individuals who have been involuntarily committed and demographic information such as dates of birth.
Let me repeat: HIPAA stands for “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.” Until recently it was never intended to be a gun control measure.
Betrayal of only a few patients’ trust will create universal dishonesty with doctors. And for what?
