Test Your Knowledge
By Jeanette Nordstrom
Dear David,
You feared ObamaCare would be a disaster for America because you signed the Free Our Health Care Now petition from the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) last year to oppose its passage. With more than 1,367,900 signers, it was the largest online policy petition ever delivered to Capitol Hill.
Now as part of the repeal effort, the NCPA is conducting a National ObamaCare Quiz so you can test your knowledge about what’s in the law!
But be warned: The answers may raise your blood pressure! ObamaCare is bigger, badder, and uglier than you probably ever imagined. How bad is it, really? Find out here.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Nordstrom

The New Health Law is Constitutional
In one of 15 to 20 lawsuits challenging some aspect of the health-care law, a federal judge in Michigan ruled Thursday that the new health-care overhaul law is constitutional, rejecting an argument that Congress lacked the power to create the legislation’s “individual mandate,” which requires virtually all Americans to purchase health insurance.

House Takes up Reform Repeal Debate
The U.S. House of Representatives has begun its ambitious legislative agenda with healthcare, as House members started consideration of repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act. The House re-convened at 2 p.m. ET, and a schedule released last week called for seven hours of debate on the measure.
House members are expected to conclude consideration of the repeal bill with a vote on Wednesday before they consider a resolution on Thursday to replace the Affordable Care Act.

House Votes to Repeal Healthcare Law
A majority of members in the Republican-led House of Representatives voted on Wednesday, mostly along party lines, to repeal President Barack Obama’s landmark healthcare law [ACA].
The U.S. House of Representatives voted 245-189 to repeal the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, with three Democrats supporting the Bill. The measure is unlikely to go any further, as the Democratic-controlled Senate is expected to drop it.

[Implement health reform while cutting back]
President Obama faced two major challenges after unveiling his health budget: showing that he’s serious about fiscal discipline while making sure implementation of his healthcare reform law has a clear path.

Happy Anniversary
The Affordable Care Act became law one year ago today.
The biggest provisions – the state-based exchanges and the subsidies for low and moderate income people to buy insurance – don’t go into effect until 2014, but dozens of lesser known programs and provisions are already under way, and most states (including some that are fighting health reform in court) are working on implementation plans.

The Flaw
Grace-Marie Turner says Obamacare is fatally flawed.
“The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled against the individual mandate in August, accurately described it as ‘toothless.’ The penalties—$695 a year or 2.5% of income once fully implemented in 2016—are too weak to induce people to sign up for insurance policies that the Congressional Budget Office estimates could cost $20,000 a year for a family of four.”

And, the State of Ohio [all 88 districts] just sent a strong message against Obama-Care in yesterday’s election.
