  1. U.S. Employers Expect Health Care Costs to Increase

    According to the recent Towers Watson Health Care Changes Ahead Survey:

    • A 4% increase in 2015 health care costs is projected.
    • A 5.2% growth rate is projected, assuming no adjustments are made.
    • 83% of employers consider health benefits as an important element.
    • 73% of employers are somewhat or very concerned they will trigger the ACA’s excise tax.
    • 43% want to avoid the ACA excise tax in regards to their health care strategies for 2015.

    Note: The survey was completed during July 2014 by 379 employee benefit professionals from midsize to large companies across a variety of industries.
