  1. Sin Taxes

Governments around the world in general have always use the high taxation tactic as a way of controlling certain activities where the government would like to gain better control over such as the obesity as mentioned by implementing higher price for sweetened sodas.

Whereas in Hong Kong and other similar size Asian countries or cities where roads are frequently congested with private vehicles with smog issue; the Hong Kong government had also established a 100% sales tax structure for every vehicle sold in the city of Hong Kong to combat these issues. Imagine a Honda Civic in Hong Kong would costs as much as a Benz C-class in the States.

In addition, they have also added an annual registration fee per the size of your vehicle engine output (cubic centimeters: cc) where the smaller the engine equals to the lesser of the annual registration fee to the government as a way of curbing people to drive less with small engine = less congestion on the road with lesser smog problem for healthier living.
