States Put 29.7% of Total Spending Toward Medicaid in 2018
The National Association of State Budget Officers recently released their annual state expenditure report. Here are some key findings on state Medicaid spending:
• State Medicaid spending grew 7.3% in 2018.
• 29.7% of total state expenditures in fiscal 2018 went to Medicaid.
• In 2008, Medicaid consumed 20.5% of total state expenditures.
