  1. Dear Ann,

SUPERSESSIONS AT THE 2010 MHEALTH SUMMIT PUT THE SPOTLIGHT ON EMERGING ISSUES AND CRITICAL TOPICS

Super Sessions Deliver Key Speakers from Industry, Academia, Government and Policy

Organizers of the mHealth Summit announced today the seven “super session” panels that will shape the 2010 conference and are central to the future of mobile health (mHealth). The sessions spotlight critical opportunities and challenges defining the mHealth ecosystem domestically and internationally, including emerging markets.

The 2010 mHealth Summit has emerged as the definitive event in mHealth and the only major event in the U.S. that brings together the four critical and interdependent components necessary to advance mHealth: technology, business, research and policy.

Who: The 2010 mHealth Summit is organized by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health in partnership with the mHealth Alliance and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

When: November 8-10, 2010, online at http://www.mhealthsummit.org, and using Twitter hashtag #mHS10

Where: The Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.

Super sessions at the Summit have been designed to accelerate the discussion, collaboration and implementation of mHealth solutions by tackling the most important issues and challenges in the use of wireless technologies to improve health outcomes, whether in relationship to business, research, or public policy.

Super Sessions Shaping the Summit include:
Cross-Sectoral Perspectives on mHealth: This session brings together U.S. and international stakeholders from diverse sectors of the mHealth ecosystem to discuss their perspectives on key opportunities, challenges, and potential for future collaboration.

mHealth: Impact and Future Visions: Panelists will explore how mHealth could transform the delivery of health services, the conduct of research, the implementation of new findings, and the economics of health systems.

Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) and mHealth: CER is “the generation and synthesis of evidence that compares the benefits and harms of alternative methods to prevent, diagnose, treat, and monitor a clinical condition or to improve the delivery of care” (IOM 2002). This panel will explore 1) to what extent mobile technology can influence how health data is collected and 2) what methodologies are required to evaluate the effectiveness of mHealth interventions and programs.

Lessons Learned Across the Globe: Experts from multiple sectors will share insights based on experiences implementing and evaluating mHealth projects and programs around the world, and provide clues as to how future programs can be improved.

The CEO Perspective: Leaders from various sectors will share their perspectives on the future of mHealth, both as a business and as a tool to help save lives.

Optimizing Privacy and Data Security in the Mobile Technology Era: Government and industry leaders will explore the policy and technical data protection challenges of using mobile technologies to fight disease and improve well-being.

Innovation, Public Safety, and Reimbursement: Regulatory and Policy Perspectives of mHealth: Government will have a great deal to say about the success of mHealth in a world where policy and who pays are critical issues. Hear from key leaders in the insurance industry, regulatory agencies and industry.
The conference program features high-level speakers, experts, and stakeholders who are driving the future of the mobile health ecosystem.
