TELE HEALTH AUDITS?
A colleague was contacted to audit over 1000 Telehealth records. All have one objective: “Was both audio AND video used when an office visit code 99201-99215 used?”
If not they want it flagged for a refund. They even want patients queried to support the video face to face portion if that was not clear in the record. Also, 2 plans said if the specific platform is not specifically noted, FaceTime or Skype, then query what was used and if not HIPAA compliant was the patient alerted?
Doctors – Don’t be surprised of you are audited by a Commercial plan as well as CMS. It’s coming.
